Data Deletion

You can delete your TechResume account and all associated data at any time. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. This page describes exactly what is deleted, the two ways to request it, and the timelines that apply.

01 Delete in the App (Fastest)

The fastest way is directly inside the TechResume Android app:

1. Open TechResume and go to the Profile tab.
2. Scroll to the Danger Zone section and choose Delete account.
3. Read the confirmation, then confirm twice — on the final step you type DELETE to confirm.
4. Your account and data are scheduled for permanent deletion right away.

02 Request Deletion by Email

If you no longer have the app installed, or cannot sign in, you can request deletion from the developer:

03 What Gets Deleted

When your account is deleted, the following are permanently removed from our backend within the timelines described in section 05:

• Your account record and sign-in credentials.
• Your subscription and entitlement record in our backend.
• All resume content, work experience, skills, projects, and education entries.
• Cover letters, interview prep content, job applications, and tracked pipeline data.
• Feedback and AI-content reports you submitted.
• The local encrypted data vault on your device.
• Any unencrypted JSON snapshot previously written to your device's Downloads folder (we recommend you also delete it manually, since it lives outside our backend).

If you enabled optional cloud backup to your own Google Drive, deleting your account does not remove files already stored in your personal Drive — you can delete those directly in Google Drive, or contact us and we will guide you through removing the AppData backup.

04 Subscriptions

Deleting your account does not automatically cancel an active Google Play subscription, because billing is managed by Google between you and Google Play. To stop future renewals, cancel your subscription in Google Play before or after deleting your account:

• Open Google Play Store → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions, select TechResume, and tap Cancel subscription.

05 Retention & Timeline

Deletion takes effect immediately for the local encrypted vault on your device. For server-side account data, we acknowledge email requests within 72 hours, and verified deletions are completed within the following timelines:

• 30 days — default regions (US, Asia-Pacific, rest of world).
• 45 days — California residents under the CCPA.

Three narrow exceptions may outlast those windows, and all are isolated from product systems: security and anti-abuse audit logs (request metadata without resume content) are retained for 90 days after deletion for fraud prevention and legal compliance, then permanently deleted or fully anonymized; to prevent repeated abuse of free trials, we keep a device-level trial-claim record containing only a device identifier and a claim timestamp (no resume content) for up to 365 days — this record is not removed when you delete your account, and its expiry does not restore a new free trial; and tax, accounting, or anti-money-laundering records that we are legally required to keep may be retained for up to 7 years, isolated from product systems and deleted as soon as the legal window closes. No other account data is retained after deletion.

For California residents, the lawful basis for processing deletion requests is CCPA §1798.105. For mainland China users, the basis is PIPL Article 47.
